Template Licence

Exactly what you may and may not do with a downloaded template. This licence forms part of our Terms of Use.

1. The licence you receive

When you download a template from FreePDFTemplates.com, we grant you a free, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, non-transferable licence to use that template for personal and internal business purposes. There is no charge, no expiry and no limit on the number of copies you print or save.

2. What you may do

  • Edit any field online and download the result as a PDF, filled in or blank.
  • Use a downloaded template in your personal life and in your business or organisation.
  • Print or save as many copies as you need, for as many people inside your organisation as you need.
  • Use a completed template in your own paperwork and share the completed document with your customers, clients, employees, contractors, tenants, suppliers or advisers as part of your own records.
  • Adapt the wording of a completed document to fit your own agreement or process.
  • Store your downloaded files wherever you keep your own documents.

3. What you may not do

  • Resell, rent, sublicense or redistribute a blank template, or include it in a paid or free template pack, course, app, plugin, membership or document library.
  • Republish a blank template on a website, marketplace, file-sharing service or social post for others to download.
  • Claim authorship of the template design or the underlying artwork, or remove or obscure any copyright or attribution notice.
  • Use our name, logo or the site name in a way that suggests endorsement, partnership or certification of your product or service.
  • Use the templates as the basis of a competing template library, or mass-download them by automated means.
  • Bypass the watermark or the download step through technical means rather than by providing a contact when asked.
  • Use a template to create a document that is fraudulent, misleading or unlawful, or that misrepresents a legal status, licence or certification.

If you need rights beyond this licence, for example to redistribute a template commercially or to license a custom version, contact us first: [contact email].

4. Watermark and attribution

Blank downloads carry a light FreePDFTemplates.com watermark. You may download the watermark-free version by providing an email address or mobile number when prompted, as described in the Privacy Policy. You do not need to credit us on a document you have filled in, and you should not present a blank template as your own design.

5. No legal certification

Templates are generic forms. They do not carry legal approval, regulatory certification or professional review, and they are not tailored to the law of any particular province, state or country. A generic release, waiver, consent or notice does not by itself create an enforceable right, and requirements differ widely: for example, employment standards and termination notice in Canada are governed by provincial legislation such as the Employment Standards Act, tenancy forms are prescribed by provincial or state rules, consumer contracts are subject to provincial consumer protection statutes and to United States federal and state law, and privacy clauses must match the law that applies to you, including PIPEDA, Quebec's Law 25 and state privacy statutes.

It is your responsibility to check that a form is appropriate and legally effective for your situation and jurisdiction, and to have important documents reviewed by a qualified lawyer or other professional before you rely on them.

6. Your content stays yours

We claim no ownership of the information you type into a template. You are responsible for that content, including ensuring you have the right to enter and disclose any personal information it contains, and for complying with the privacy law that applies to you as the organisation collecting it.

7. Warranty and liability

Templates are provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We are not liable for any loss arising from your use of a template, including a document being rejected, unenforceable or unsuitable, subject to the limits and the non-waivable rights described in our Terms of Use. Our total aggregate liability is limited to CAD $100.

8. Term and termination

This licence lasts for as long as you comply with it. It ends automatically if you breach it, and on termination you must stop distributing any template you obtained from us. Documents you already completed and issued in the ordinary course before termination may continue to be used by you and the parties who received them.

9. Governing law

This licence is governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without affecting any mandatory consumer protection rights you have where you live.
