Terms of Use

The agreement between you and FreePDFTemplates.com. Written for visitors in Canada and the United States.

1. Agreement to these terms

By using FreePDFTemplates.com (the "site"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. If you use the site for a business, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms for that business.

You must be at least the age of majority where you live to accept these terms. If you are younger, you may use the site only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

2. What the service is

  • A library of free form, checklist, planner, invoice, contract and record-keeping templates that you can edit in your browser and export as a PDF.
  • No account, signup, subscription or payment is required, and nothing on the site is sold.
  • Every template can be exported in A4 or US Letter, portrait or landscape, filled in or blank.
  • The site is supported by advertising, so ad placements may appear on pages.
  • We may add, change, suspend or remove templates, features or the site itself at any time. We aim to keep it running and free, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

3. Downloads, the watermark and your contact details

  • A watermarked PDF is free and requires nothing from you. No account, no email, no phone number.
  • To download the watermark-free version we ask for an email address or mobile number. You confirm that the address or number is yours, or that you have the owner's permission to use it.
  • We use that contact to deliver the download and a copy of the document, as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not sell it and we do not send third-party marketing to it.
  • If you provide a mobile number, message and data rates may apply, and you can reply STOP to opt out of further texts.
  • You may not use automated means to obtain, harvest or bulk-download templates, or to bypass the watermark or the contact step.

4. Licence to use the templates

Templates are licensed, not sold. Your licence is described in full in the Template Licence, which forms part of these terms. In summary, you may edit, download, print and use templates freely for personal and business purposes, including in your own client paperwork, but you may not resell, redistribute or republish blank templates as your own product.

5. Intellectual property

The site, its name and logo, the layout and design of the templates, and the underlying code are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and trademark law in Canada, the United States and elsewhere. You receive only the limited licence described above.

We claim no ownership of the information you type into a template. Your entries are yours. You are responsible for making sure you have the right to use any information you put into a document, including another person's personal information.

6. Your responsibilities when you fill in a form

  • If you enter other people's personal information (for example an employee, tenant, customer or patient record), you are the organisation collecting it and you are responsible for complying with the privacy law that applies to you, including PIPEDA or Quebec's Law 25 in Canada and state privacy laws in the United States.
  • Do not use templates to create documents that are fraudulent, defamatory, harassing or unlawful, and do not use the site to impersonate anyone.
  • Keep your own copies of anything you need. Because drafts live in your browser, clearing browser data will remove them.

7. Acceptable use

  • Do not scrape, crawl or bulk-download the site or its templates, or use bots to generate downloads.
  • Do not interfere with security features, advertising systems, download tracking or the contact step.
  • Do not attempt to reverse engineer, copy or resell the site or its template library.
  • Do not upload or transmit malware, or use the site in a way that damages or overloads it.
  • We may block access, without notice, where we reasonably believe these rules have been broken.

8. Advertising and third-party links

Pages may display third-party advertising, for example through Google AdSense, and may link to third-party sites. We do not control and are not responsible for advertisers or third-party sites, their products, their claims or their privacy practices. An advertisement is not an endorsement by us. Any dealings you have with an advertiser are between you and that advertiser.

9. No professional advice, no warranty

Templates are generic forms provided for convenience. They are not legal, tax, accounting, financial or medical advice, and using one does not create a lawyer-client or professional relationship. We do not review your completed document, and we do not verify that a template is valid or enforceable in your province, state or country. Laws differ between jurisdictions and change over time: before relying on any document, have a qualified professional review it.

The site and templates are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that a template will be accepted by a court, agency, landlord, employer, insurer or any other party, or that the site will be error-free or continuously available.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any right you have under consumer protection legislation that cannot be waived by agreement, including the Canadian provincial consumer protection statutes (for example in British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec) and applicable United States federal and state consumer laws.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost business, lost data or business interruption, arising out of or related to your use of the site or any template, even if we were told such damages were possible.

Because the service is free, our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the site is limited to CAD $100.

These limits do not apply where they are prohibited by law, including in Quebec to the extent that liability cannot be excluded for bodily or moral injury or for damages resulting from our intentional or gross fault, and do not affect any non-waivable statutory rights.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, losses, liabilities and reasonable costs (including legal fees) arising from your use of the site, your breach of these terms, or the content you enter into or distribute using a template, including any privacy or intellectual property claim relating to it.

12. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Subject to the paragraph below, the courts of British Columbia have exclusive jurisdiction.

If you are a consumer resident in the United States, or in another Canadian province, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your place of residence, and you may bring a claim in your local courts where the law allows. Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us so we can try to resolve the matter informally.

13. Changes, termination and general

  • We may update these terms; the version posted on this page, with the date below, is the current one. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
  • You may stop using the site at any time. We may suspend or end access where these terms are breached.
  • If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
  • These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Template Licence, are the entire agreement between us about the site.
  • We may assign these terms in connection with a sale or transfer of the site.

14. Contact
